Formerly known as 'The Naked Boy' from 1615 to 1845

The Kings Head was one of the oldest pubs in Great Baddow, possibly the oldest. It dates back to 1615 when it was previously called The Naked Boy. It was always a popular place for travellers to stop en route to Maldon or Southend from Chelmsford.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Nick
(Customer, London)

Had an absolutely fantastic stay. Gorgeous rooms, fantastic hosts, ridiculously fun karaoke room, thoroughly Instagramable bar, not to mention an absolutely massive hot tub. Easy to get to from London and a brilliant venue to host the best of times. Thank you!

I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of the recent refurbishment of Essex Stays (formerly The Kings Head).
Over the last year I’ve had regular conversations with Emma discussing what they hope to achieve. The attention to detail during the renovation was exemplary and everything has been put in place for the project to triumph when it opens its doors.
Meticulous detailing designed to give the client the absolute best of (Essex) stays.
All of us at Chadwell Court Upholstery would like to congratulate Emma and James on a beautifully executed project with family right at the heart.
